چکیده

1. The analysis, by silica-gel chromatography, of phospholipids from a human-plasma fraction is described. The fraction was derived from whole blood which had been incubated with sodium [Me-14C]acetate for 6-5 hr. The #-lipoproteins had been removed by precipitation with dextran sulphate. 2. All the phospholipids isolated were labelled. 3. The fatty acids of the isolated phospholipids were analysed by vapour-phase chromatography. 4. A comparison of yield, radioactivity and fatty acid distribution with those for the phospholipids of the cells is given.

The Relationship Between L - Chain Synthesis and e - Globulin Production CHRISTINE

A B S T R A C T The simultaneous administration of labeled human -G globulin and L-chains to subjects has allowed examination of the metabolic relationship between a component part and the whole immunoglobulin molecule. Studies were carried out in a series of control subjects and in a group of patients where substandard production of '-globulin was anticipated, i.e., patients with the nephrotic...

Plasma infusions in immunologic deficiency states: metabolic and therapeutic studies.

C URRENT THERAPY for agammaglobulinemia consists of periodic intramuscular injection of commercial y-globulin ( Cohn fraction II ), a preparation containing y0-globulin alone. Agammaglobulinemic patients, deficient in all 3 immune globulins, as well as patients with isolated deficiencies of Ynor -yA-globulin ( dysgammaglobulinemia, ataxia telangiectasia, the Aldrich syndrome’5 ) might be expect...

Metabolic Studies of Human Fibrinogen ‘y/’y’ Chain Heterogeneity

Human fibrinogen chromatographed on DEAE-cellulose resolves into two components containing 85% (peak 1 ) and 15% (peak 2) of the total fibrinogen. Peak 1 and peak 2 differ only in the composition of their ‘y chains, with peak 1 containing only one type of “y chain and peak 2 containing equal amounts of ‘y chain and a second chain, called ‘y’. In an effort to explain the difference in the amount...

Glycopeptides. III. Isolation and properties of glycopeptides from a bovine globulin of colostrum and from fraction II-3 of human globulin.

In the preceding paper (1)) the isolation, amino acid sequence, and carbohydrate composition of several glycopeptides obtained from rabbit y-globulin were described. In this communication we report the isolation and some properties of glycopeptides from a bovine y-globulin of colostrum and a human Fraction II-3 y-globulin. The amino acid sequence of a glycopeptide from bovine y-globulin has bee...

Immunohistochemical Analysis of Amyloid by the Fluorescence Technique

The immunohistochemical composition of amyloid deposits in secondary human amyloidosis and experimental amyloidosis in rabbits was studied by means of the "fluorescent antibody" technique of Coons et al. Quantitative studies of the relative amounts of gamma globulin present in the amyloid deposits by the use of radioiodinated fluorescent antibody are reported. It is concluded that amyloid depos...
